Brenchley Road was handed over to Monson Homes in February 2015. Valued at £1.1m, the project is formed of 5 houses and 2 flats on a greenfield plot in Paddock Wood. All 7 units are for affordable rent.
The homes were developed using a timber frame, with cladding, brickwork and tiles used to deliver modern properties, sensitive to their surroundings.
The build reached Code Level 3 and features air source heat pumps, as there was no gas supply to the site. Each unit was supplied with a Smart Meter to monitor energy usage and help to reduce residents’ bills. Each unit is Secure By Design.
We had to create 190m of footpath connecting the development to the current pathway further up the road. As part of this, several of the existing neighbours gained new pathways and steps down to their homes.
We had to maintain a public right of way adjacent to the site, this was achieved with no affect on the build or the footpath.
We worked closely with an adjoining neighbour and got permission to access the adjoining field.
We maintained access through the site for the farmer to the remaining field space behind the site.
We achieved Performance Beyond Compliance on the Considerate Constructors Scheme, scoring 34 and 37 out of 50.
