Hayesbank Surgery, Ashford

Location: Kennington, Ashford

Client: Hayesbank Surgery

Value: £1.1m

The project involved a carefully planned five-phase extension and refurbishment of a GP surgery on the outskirts of Ashford, which cares for over 17,500 patients.

A live pharmacy is also contained within the existing building and both the surgery and the pharmacy remained operational throughout which required careful coordination and an extremely considerate approach to construction. This project was undertaken on behalf of the NHS and was ultimately subject to strict time and budgetary constraints.

A funding stream of £850,000 was received from the NHS England Primary Care Transformation Fund which allowed the project to move forwards to transform the existing facilities. The extension consists of 7 new clinical rooms, a minor operating theatre, recovery rooms and an improved, spacious and more welcoming reception and waiting area.

The project was vital to rejuvenate the existing facilities in order to enhance primary care provision for the local community, ultimately increasing capacity and enabling the doctors and their teams to provide far better care for their patients.

The project was delivered via traditional brick and block construction methods with steelwork frames and concrete beams completing in 2017.
