This landmark building provides a new sea sports centre with modern facilities for the Watersports Centre, the Lifeguards and the Rowing Club.
The scheme, which was funded by Sport England, includes a new boat store and changing facilities at lower ground floor level and a new bar and restaurant at first floor level that provide stunning views across the port of Dover. A syndicate room is also at first floor level, providing a flexible multi-function facility with the inclusion of a movable partition.
With the footprint of the building actually on the beach the foundations comprise a concrete raft constructed of waterproof concrete.
The structure up to first floor level consists of an insitu concrete frame on top of which is a steel frame to the first floor.
Externally the building is clad with masonry, cedar boarding and powder coated aluminium curtain wallin–g, windows and doors. The roof is a standing seam system with Baileys preformed feature eaves. In addition to the front of the building there is an exposed concrete feature balcony with stainless steel balustrading.
