St Bartholomew’s Court is an existing care facility located on the outskirts of Rye, East Sussex. Both the standard of accommodation and the general condition of the building were in urgent need of improvement, so we were chosen to extend and refurbish the scheme.
Phase 1 of the main works comprised a traditional masonry construction extension of 15 new extra care flats. Each flat contains a kitchen including white goods, a lounge/dining area, bedroom and bathroom with a level access shower area. We also provided Sanctuary with a show flat to allow current residents to seeing the inside the new units.
Following the completion of this phase, some of the existing residents were relocated into the new extension, releasing areas within the existing facility for refurbishment. Phase 2 included these refurbishments and another extension to provide a further 10 no flats.
Upon Phase 2 completion we undertook the final phase which incorporates a further 15 no refurbishments.
We provided a Tenant Liaison Officer who attended monthly meetings with the existing residents to discuss the scheme and answer any queries. We also worked closely with the adjoining Rye Memorial Hospital and Doctor’s Surgery and held regular meetings with them to discuss the planned construction works.
