This extension and refurbishment project at Sutton Valance School was undertaken by our General Works Team. The new additions provide staff, students and visitors at the school with new reception and administration space, as well as external alterations to the Refectory Building and various improvements to external areas.
The newly extending building features a large glazed entrance, offer new offices for staff and provide a welcoming reception space. The extension was constructed using masonry, brick and render techniques. The existing Refectory Building benefits from alterations and link to a new external canopy which also connects to the new reception building.
External works included resurfacing works extending to over 1000sqm of road, the provision of new gabion walls and drainage works.
The project was completed in three phases:
- Phase 1: July-August 2016 – Resurfacing works, part demolition of the existing shop building, drainage repairs
- Phase 2: August 2016 – March 2017 – Construction of the new extension and erection of a new canopy
- Phase 3: March-April 2017 – Further external and finishing works.
Phases 2 and 3 were undertaken in a live environment, with students accessing the Refectory Building throughout the scheme.
