Inspiring a generation!
Date: August 2021
As a considerate and responsible contractor, addressing our duty to educate and encourage future generations to recognise construction as a potential career path, the team at Halstow Way in Ashford welcomed some of Jenner’s smallest ever visitors as ten children aged between 5-8 visited site. The children, all from under-privileged backgrounds and who were part of the holiday club ‘Kiddie Kapers’ based at the neighbouring Surestart Centre, were incredibly excited to watch the live machinery and learn about the construction of the 17 affordable new homes (a mix of 1,2 and 3 ned apartments over three storeys), which are being delivered on behalf of Ashford Borough Council and are making great progress despite the challenges of inclement weather and ongoing pandemic-induced restrictions.
Jenner temporary Site Manager Paul Groombridge stepped-in for resident Site Manager Clinton Dunn whilst he was on holiday to talk to the children about construction and keeping safe on and around building sites. Meeting their very own ‘Bob-the-Builder’ too (Jenner Contracts Manager Bob Garlinge) and receiving lots of Jenner-branded goodies at the end of their visit the children certainly went away inspired and with a very positive image of construction and returned later that day with some pictures they had drawn for us, depicting what construction means to them.
