Jenner continue strong relations with Dover District Council to bring more new homes to the region
Date: June 2021
DDC Leader Cllr Trevor Bartlett officially broke ground on all three sites last month (May 2021) accompanied by the cabinet minister for housing Cllr Murphy and many of the team responsible for the schemes. Construction has now commenced on all three sites.
The 26 affordable new homes at Napchester Road, are being delivered as part of a planning condition of the Whitfield Urban Expansion and will provide a mix of one and two-bedroom flats along with two, three, and four- bedroom houses alongside a single five-bedroom house. All of the new homes will be available for social rent by local people on the Council’s waiting list.
The former brownfield sites at Kimberley Close in Dover and Stockdale Gardens in Deal, previously occupied by garages will be regenerated to add a further 24 homes as part of the Council’s overall masterplan. These will provide interim emergency accommodation for people who find themselves homeless before they can be reallocated into permanent homes.
The three projects follow concurrently on from the successful completion of the 65 new homes at William Muge and Snelgrove, earlier this year.
Cllr Trevor Bartlett, the Leader of Dover District Council, said: “We’re delighted to start work on the next phase(s) of our affordable housing development programme, delivering new homes for local people. We’re also building back better with homes which are more sustainable, designed to contribute to the Council’s net zero carbon target.” Cllr Trevor Bartlett
