Jenner joins forces with Reina Group
Date: August 2023
With a trusted working relationship spanning over 20 years and with Reina established as one of our most prominent, longstanding supply-chain partners delivering plumbing and heating solutions to our projects, the strategic decision was taken to further bond the already strong pre-existing links between the businesses, to ensure we continue to build effectively and efficiently whilst optimising the opportunities created by significant industry changes to regulation and compliance.
The joining of companies was sealed with a handshake between Managing Directors Ricky Reina (main picture left) and Martin Sandall (right), situated in front of one of Jenner’s most iconic builds, Shoreline Crescent in Folkestone, where Reina have delivered plumbing and heating services to the project. As the two Directors shook hands and contemplated the future Martin commented “With construction moving at pace towards a more sustainable future, and with rigorous industry standards being implemented, we believe a stronger alliance with Reina will be fundamental in vastly improving our ability to decarbonise new and existing housing stock. This is certainly a significant leap forward for Jenner and a benefit we can bring to our clients.”
Ricky added: “The future feels bright. Being aligned to the Jenner brand, which is so strong and respected as one of Kent’s leading contractors, I believe will reap huge benefits for us all at Reina. I am incredibly excited for the potential opportunity this provides for both our businesses”.
Jenner commenced working relations with Reina back in 2003 when the business was initially established as Bryant and Reina, poignantly with Jenner awarding them their first-ever contract to deliver new sanitaryware and rainwater goods to a residential project based in Ramsgate. Both businesses have certainly since grown, strengthened, and diversified, together delivering a myriad of projects across Kent and Sussex and all to the highest standards of quality and service.
The incredibly difficult trading conditions experienced over recent years, and that continue to blight the construction industry compelled us to think differently, adapt to overcome such volatility and prompted essential change, which was the catalyst behind the acquisition. Engaging with such a highly reputable, local contractor it is the unequivocal belief that together we are stronger. The enhanced knowledge and expertise this now brings to the business, and that we can share with our clients, will continue to strengthen the Jenner brand.
Whilst Reina Group will continue to operate as a separate business entity run by Board of Directors Ricky Reina, Chris Smith and Louise Moon they will now be joined by Jenner Directors Martin Sandall, Geoff Crouch and consultant Matt Weston to steer the business forwards. Whilst Reina will benefit from the immediate support and guidance that the Jenner team can offer, in turn, Reina will allow Jenner to build efficiently, with decarbonisation firmly embedded in our service offering and sustainability at the heart of our business ethos.
With the latest changes to Building Regulations now in full force, most prominently with new ‘Part L’ to ensure better energy performance and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions by 31% the acquisition is incredibly well-timed to ensure ongoing compliance and a proactive approach. The Reina Group are at the forefront of renewable heat pump design and installations and having achieved MCS approved installer status for heat pump installations are now considered to be one of the leading installers of heat pumps in Kent and across the South East.
With further changes to building regulations looming in coming years, demanding a considerable 75-80% reduction as part of the drive towards the Future Homes Standard in 2025, and the necessity to ensure an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of ‘C’ as a minimum standard on all homes by 2030 it was vital that we were prepared and ready to respond.
This latest announcement follows the introduction of Park Farm Construction back in September 2022; the division of Jenner to undertake the smaller scale projects, who continue to thrive and will now work in partnership with Reina to deliver domestic and smaller commercial projects and address the demands of the growing retrofit market to ensure we can offer a service to our clients that provides them with peace of mind and complete confidence that their properties are to the required standards of safety and quality.
