Pittsmead Grange Care Home, Bromley
Location: Bromley, Kent
Client: Barchester
Completed: August 2024
Value: £8m
Following the demolition of the existing buildings on site the traditional construction is based upon strip foundations with ground bearing slabs. Externally the design, by London based practice Harries Irwin, carefully incorporates decorative stone features to ensure the new build is in keeping with the surrounding area, whilst internally the home includes many ancillary facilities from a hair and beauty salon to a cinema room and plenty of communal day spaces for dining and interaction between the residents to ensure home-from-home style living and ensure social wellbeing and interaction. The home includes a mixture of standard and premium rooms. Set over three storeys there are two lifts for access and a commercial kitchen and laundry spaces.
Procured under a design and build contract the project handed-over to our client in August (2024) ready for occupation by its new residents. Logistically a very tight site situated close to the local school, a church and residential areas and with road frontage on two sides, close working relationships have been nurtured with Bromley Highways and have been essential to move the scheme forwards following a challenging planning process owing to the schemes size and location.
