Canterbury Medical Centre
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Client: Assura Healthcare Ltd
Value: £3m
Canterbury Medical Centre is a contemporary, fit-for-purpose new medical centre built on behalf of Assura plc, within the grounds of the busy Kent & Canterbury Hospital.
The project, our second successfully delivered for this valued client, involved the design and construction of a new two-storey building to provide various GP and nurses rooms, minor operating theatres, staff administration space and kitchen areas as well as several spacious waiting rooms, as shown in the CGI’s (pictured right), an adjacent pharmacy and dedicated patient parking.
By amalgamating two former Canterbury GP practices that were becoming tired and no longer fit-for-purpose, and co-locating these within hospital grounds, patients will benefit from greater co-ordination of primary care services which will undoubtedly be an absolute asset from which the community will benefit greatly. This is also one of the first new build GP premises in the country to benefit from funding via the NHS England Estates and Technology transformation fund.
This site was particularly prominent for Jenner within the heart of the bustling Kent and Canterbury Hospital grounds and received high praise from many of the NHS staff particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
